VISION
The Global Ecovillage Network envisions a world of empowered citizens and communities, designing and implementing their own pathways to a sustainable future, and building bridges of hope and international solidarity.

To innovate, catalyze, educate and advocate in global partnership with ecovillages and all those dedicated to the shift to a regenerative world.
FRAMEWORK

OUR GOALS
1. To advance the education of individuals from all walks of life by sharing the experience and best practices gained from the networks of ecovillages and sustainable communities worldwide.
2. To advance human rights, conflict resolution, and reconciliation by empowering local communities to interact globally, while promoting a culture of mutual acceptance and respect, effective communications, and cross-cultural outreach.
3. To advance environmental protection globally by serving as a think tank, incubator, international partner organization, and catalyst for projects that expedite the shift to sustainable and resilient lifestyles.
4. To advance citizen and community participation in local decision-making, influencing policy-makers, and educating the public, to accelerate the transition to sustainable living.

MEET THE TEAM AT GEN INTERNATIONAL
GEN International is the organisation that provides global platforms, voice and coordination to help the network achieve its vision and mission. It has a dedicated staff team and is stewarded by a Board of Trustees. The Board aims for diversity in terms of gender, ages, geographical location, background and skills, blending members from the ecovillage movement with passionate supporters from many others sectors and movements. Together, the board and staff make decisions using sociocratic principles.

THE GEN NETWORK
OUR NETWORK STEWARDS
We come together globally in the Network Steward Circle (NSC). The NSC links the Regional, Global Nodes, NextGEN, and GEN Council of Elders together. It is made up of 3 members from each of those Nodes/Circles. Its core purpose is network coordination and to steward GEN’s shared purpose as a network. The Circle is also a forum where geographical diversity and relationships between all regions in GEN can be addressed and to some extent be balanced, aiming to give equal voice to different parts of the Network

They serve as liaisons between the ecovillage movement and the broader public, working to raise awareness about ecological, social, and cultural sustainability. Their role involves spreading knowledge, facilitating community-building projects, and encouraging people to participate in ecovillage initiatives. GEN Ambassadors actively support local and global transitions toward more sustainable lifestyles, drawing inspiration from the ecovillage model to foster environmental stewardship and holistic living.
